West Africa Cooks are listing this event called Wine Tasting - David vs Goliath: the New World takes on France on 2019-07-18 19:30:00

For a long time, or so the story goes, France sat comfortably at the top of every wine lover's list, producing the best juice and leaving the rest of the world in the rear view mirror. But the 20th century saw the explosion of winemaking in the so-called 'New World', where good wine could be reliably produced year in year out – and often at a lower price. What's more, the past few decades have seen a real increase in quality in these countries, with growers and winemakers turning to small yields, old vines and old-world wisdom. In this tasting we're going to pit French classics against New World rivals to see who comes out on top: will Californian chardonnay triumph over white Burgundy? Can South African 'Bordeaux blends' match good old claret? Come taste and find out, and we'll even throw in some classic French cheese pairings to boot.
