Chop X Beats May 2016

By West Africa Cooks, 5 April, 2016

With the rise in African music in Afro-beats with the rise in African fashion in hot designs from our heritage we see a rise in African foodie events during the day and evening. To inspire a nation and the world, the capital London gets its first ever foodie and beats day out.

Chop X Beats is a fresh musical and culinary event that aims to create a feel good party atmosphere. They aim to provide a fun way to connect with, share and explore African culture.

Launch event: Chop X Beats - Day Party

This is a day party experience with authentic West African cuisine and party music from across the African diaspora; an alternative event to clubbing.
Chop X Beats draws its inspiration from the current African renaissance which is occurring across London, and the nostalgic feeling of African hall parties from the 90’s and early 00’s. African culture is rich in many ways, it represents pride and history, but most importantly unity.

Come and enjoy authentic West African cuisine and 100% party vibes from 2pm till midnight, set in one of Hackney’s trendiest venues - The Russett - complete with a beer garden.

Afrobeats specialist Dj Nore will be playing a mix of Highlife, Hiplife, Afrobeats, Hip -Hop, Reggae, Dancehall, Old School classics, 90’s - 00’s Hip-hop and R&B.

Full of flavour West African cuisine will be available for purchase - Jollof rice, kelewele, yam, chicken, suya, puff puff plus many more. (food will be served from 2pm - 6.30pm, so please arrive early if you want to chop)
