A west African dinner and the black owned business Fairly Square Bar Cafe in Holborn, North London.

The London Taste of Africa Group visited Fairly Square Fair Trade restaurant on Saturday 25th April, 6:30 pm. This group aims are to bring people together through celebrating food from across Africa and African culture. You can sign up to this group by searching the website www.meetup.com. Past events have included an African cooking class, a trip to Paris to visit Senegalese restaurants and London African restaurant dinning. Saturday showed people love eating west African food in London, they were hungry, happy social members.

The MeetUp at 'Fairly Square', London's first Fair Trade Bar and Cafe served a mouth watering West African Jollof Rice, chicken and vegetarian stew buffet dinner.

Specifically the buffet consisted of Nigerian/Ghanaian Jollof Rice, chicken, vegetarian stew and sweet corn coleslaw salad. Also the venue had South African wine, an African inspired gin, and their famous hot chocolate fudge brownies. The menu/prices, for the food was £15 per person.

Fairly Square is coffee shop-style. Popular options on the menu include West African spicy tomato and rice jollof (veggie or meat) by order, while off-beat options such as courgette cake or mango and lime gluten-free brownies are available with a fair trade cuppa. The business is a social enterprise, so all profits are reinvested to further its ethical aims.
